Leading for Failure, or Embracing the Power of Positive Deviance?

ANZSEBP Conference 27-28 October | Dr Victoria Herrington & Stuart Bartels

Positive deviance, people bucking the trend... Why and how some people succeed by embracing failure, and the type of leadership which empowers them to do so. It is not by focusing on the failure, but on supporting the positive deviants to bring a different approach to the organisation, with the leadership recognising these "mavericks" and empowering them. Importantly, this is explicitly a bottom up process, its about solving problems not by coming up with new ideas then implementing and testing them, but by recognising those who are bucking the trend within the system may already have all the answers required.
