Police Officers in Australia and the USA
"This article compares the role of management in supporting police officers in Australia and the USA in problem-solving. Policing work is typically unpredictable, and consequently, police officers need particular technical and tactical aptitude, along with knowledge of the law and the ability to think critically to solve immediate, potentially explosive problems (Caro, 2011). Werth (2011) argues that while formal police training should provide police with the skills to move from operating in an uneventful, routine way one moment, and then dealing with intense life-threatening situation in the next moment, in practice, this may not be the case."
